Lessons

-------------------

The lesson's are run very simply.

U watch!

U listen!

U repeat!

U do!

If U fail! It all starts again

U watch!

And that's it until you are happy with what you are doing and you can tell me that you want to move onto the next steps.

Like any learning process you can't jump the steps. You have to complete each step to a satisfactory level before you can move on to the next step.

The lessons.

Once the lessons are booked they go ahead unless there is a gale force 8 forecast or a swell bigger then 5m running. In those conditions I go play. (Hehehe That's when it all starts to get fun.)

How the first lesson runs.

First 2/3 hours.

  1. You have to learn how to read the weather and find the right places to set up your kit so that your set up and launch are done safely.
  2. You must learn about each of the safety systems on the bar. They are not put there to look nice they are put there to keep you save and your kite safe!
  3. You have to learn how to set up a kite perfectly every time. If you cant we don't move onto the next step.
  4. You have to learn how to launch the kite on your own and then land the kite on your own.
  5. You must learn how to do a deep-water rescue and pick down.
  6. Now the magic starts. You have the power of the wind in your hands; lets learn how to use it to the max and safely!!!!
  7. It's time to get wet. If you are not hooked after the first time you go body dragging, then there is something wrong with you..! And maybe you should think about taking up tiddley winks or something.
  8. Once we are in the water you need to learn how to crash the kite and re launch it.   Then body brag, down wind, cross wind, up wind; finally how to jump in the safety of the water.

That's pretty much it for the first two / three hours.  Believe me it doesn't sound much but there is so much info thrown at you in the first lesson. It is a bit mind-boggling.

Like I said at the start, you have to pass each step before you can progress to the next level.

The second lesson is a little easier because the ice is broken; 2/3 hours

But if all the steps are covered in the first lesson it is time to bring the board into play.

And there is a little bit of magic here; it just takes time to get it right. Watch, listen, repeat and do. Watch, listen, repeat and do. Practicing in a good safe environment. and then you will be relaxed to be able to learn and push yourself..!

So with me standing over you or watching from the beach you will feel safe.

You may want to do another two or three hours practicing. Getting your technique down. Depends on your background in water or board sports.

If you have surfed, windsurfed or snowboarded before you will pick kitesurfing up quite quickly.

Like everything if you do your best and put your heart into it, and you commit some time to it, you will always get it in the end.
